Mermaid Nation

Rising sea levels threaten us all. A move to renewable power now could help prevent this. Here we stand in front of Kingsnorth coal fired power station deep in the UK countryside to send the message - NO NEW COAL. Pic: Tim Dalinian Jones

Our first Live to Create session was delivered under a shady tree by a mermaid (project founder Lucy Wills) on the 4th May 2007.

Mermaid Nation, believe that when faced with challenges like climate change it's better to get creative than to get angry.

Since 2002 we have been attending protests with Campaign against Climate Change, Rising Tide, the Space Hijackers ,Climate Rush and major NGO’s to bring theatre and a touch of celebrity glamour to climate related events. We've posed for the cameras, performed in theatres and out on the streets, tricked our way through police lines, infiltrated film premieres, and spoken live about practical measures against climate change on most major news networks.

What better way to communicate the need for action on Climate Change than with a whole school of mermaids and merfolk?

We joined The Climate Emergency Rally and the sea of people wearing blue at The Wave on the 5th of December. Glamour and charm won the day. Go blue!

If you are planning to go to a protest - and would like to represent Mermaid Nation, please join our facebook group or call 0797 472 9934 if you need more info or help with costumes.
