Help us grow!

To help fund our work, we're delighted to offer for sale Live to Create founder Lucy's collection of 1st edition graphic novels.

During the 1980's, comics grew up. A burst of extended narratives and more elaborate visual art led to comics being re framed as graphic novels. This collection contains highly regarded works from that era by Neil Gaiman and Frank Miller.

Violent Cases

Uk first edition of the graphic novel in near mint condition, signed by Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean. This was their first collaboration and is a wonderful piece of storytelling

These titles were signed by both author and cover artist on release in 1989, the flyer for this signing is included in the sale. Separately they are all almost impossible to find, and rarely if ever come up for sale as a collection. The actual comics and signature may be seen in the gallery below.

Please contact us with serious offers ASAP - we would like this collection to go to a new appreciative home before the end of 2010.

About the Authors

The British author Neil Gaiman is now well known globally thanks to the recent film releases Beowulf, Stardust and Coraline and his wonderful books, and is considered one of the most original living creative writers.

What first brought him to the attention of many - including myself, was the graphic novel series The Sandman. The central character, Morpheus, the master of dreams, weaves a series of enchanting storylines that draw on a multitude of myths, legends and folkore.

The text on this page here describes the series so beautifully. Richly coloured and with painted and assemblage covers by long term collaborator Dave McKean, these stories have been reprinted and rebound many times since their initial release over 20 years ago. These works have been a real inspiration to me, but its now time to pass them on.

We are also offering - for sale with the above, or separately -

1st edition of the groundbreaking 1983–1984 comic series Ronin, with its innovative art and storyline and 1st edition 'prestige format' trade paperbacks The Dark Knight Returns, and trade paperback of Elektra

Frank Miller is a legendary writer and filmmaker, whose work Dark Knight formed the basis for the recent Batman film. Ronin is also under development as a major film release. His recent film, Sin City was a landmark film comic hybrid.
